Meet Monica
I am a self-taught designer, but my love affair with handmade began with my parents, who were always building or creating something with their hands. I went off to college with a small sewing machine and spent many weekends and evenings learning to create dresses for myself and doing alterations for friends. This passion grew steadily and continued when I moved to Madison, WI in 2006 and subsequently met my husband.
When searching for a wedding gown, I tried on dozens of gowns without finding “the one” and spent as much time studying materials and peeking at the seams as I did trying them on. I discovered the only way to obtain a gown that reflected my tastes and personality, within a budget, was to create it myself. And thus began a great passion for creating wearable, beautifully handcrafted gowns.
Wearing my gown is one of the single most cherished memories of my life! Now, I have the privilege to collaborate with brides who want that same experience of walking down the aisle in a custom, beautiful gown that is as unique as their love story.
I’m married to a total geek, and live in Madison WI with our five sassy kids. I’m obsessed with craft cocktails (preferably gin or bourbon) good coffee and love wandering around the farmer’s market. I hold a liberal arts degree from Ave Maria College (one of those “so small you never knew it existed” institutions). My daughters are learning to properly hold a pin between their teeth just as I did as a little girl.
